Three of Connecticut’s own rotary clubs are taking part in a one-day event to collect supplies for the victims of Hurricane Sandy in Staten Island. Rotary Club of Avon-Canton, Rotary Club of Farmington, and Rotary Club of Simsbury-Granby will be collecting cash, tools, cleaning supplies and other items to help the victims of the vicious storm.  On Saturday, December 8 between 9am and 3pm, there will be trucks at multiple locations in Farmington and Avon, Connecticut.  These trucks will be accepting tax deductible donations from the public.  Other items you can donate include cleaning supplies, construction materials, health and safety items, and baby needs.  It is not recommended to donate clothing items. Also, please make sure the sell-by dates of any perishable items have not expired.

Your local Farmington movers, Fallon Moving and Storage will be donating the trucks to collect supplies and then transport them to Staten Island.  The location of the trucks will be at the Wal-Mart parking lot on Route 44 in Avon and at the Hampton Inn & Suites on Route 6 in Farmington.  According to the Rotary Club of Avon-Canton’s Facebook page, “Cash donations can be made by making a check payable to the Avon-Canton Rotary Community Fund, Inc., a tax deductible non-profit entity.  The checks can be delivered in person at either the collection site on December 1, or by mailing them to the Avon-Canton Rotary Community Fund, P.O. Box 11, Avon, CT 06001.
